Characteristics:

The Côt or Malbec grape brings a very deep and concentrated garnet colour. This variety is also grown in the Bordeaux region where it is blended in the wine from some of the greatest Châteaux. Very ripe aromas on the nose (blackcurrant, crushed red berries) with notes of prunes and violets. Very persistent finish.

Soils and location:

South / southeast facing slopes, on deep chalky soils with clay top soil.

Area:

2,5 hectares of vines aged 50 years old.

Yield:

35 hectolitres / hectare.

Winemaking:

Destemmed then hand sorted on a sorting table before crushing and put into a vat. Hand plunging and delestage, followed by a long maceration (between 5 and 6 weeks) with natural yeasts. Maturation in concrete buried tanks with micro-oxidation.

Food matching:

Very rustic wine which will give all its potential with time… Best enjoyed on full bodied, rich and spicy dishes, game dishes and strong cheeses. Also great as a glass of wine with friends, in front of the fire place during long winter evenings.

We are growing a very ancient vine selection which gives to our wine intensity and concentration.

To be decanted and enjoyed at room temperature.
